President Donald Trump will attend the opening of an immigration detention camp in Florida called "Alligator Alcatraz," located in the Everglades.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis authorized the construction of the detention center on a former airport property in the Everglades to house 5,000 illegal immigrants.
The detention center earned its name due to its location in the heart of the Everglades, known for its alligators and pythons.
Environmentalists and Democrats have protested the construction of the detention center, citing concerns about disrupting the Everglades ecosystem.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Krisi Noem endorsed the detention center as a facility for "some of the worst scumbags" who entered the U.S. illegally.
