'Cheers' Actor George Wendt "Norm" Dies At 76

George Wendt, best known for his role as Norm Peterson on Cheers, has passed away at the age of 76.

Wendt's publicist, Melissa Nathan, described Wendt as a "doting family man" and a "well-loved friend and confidant."  The family has requested privacy following Wendt's death.

Wendt's career began in the 1970s as part of Chicago's Second City improv.  

He appeared in all 275 episodes of Cheers and also had a recurring role on Saturday Night Live as 'Superfan' Bill Swerski.

He also appeared in movies like FletchGung Ho, and Spiceworld.

Wendt is survived by his wife and three children.
