CINCINNATI, OH--- The Guardians struggled in a brutal 7-2 loss to the Reds in Cincinnati to split the series at 2 wins a piece. Noah Syndergaard was the Guardians starter today and his outing did not go well, he would go a little over 4 innings giving up 8 hits and 6 runs, 2 of those 6 runs came two 2 run home runs in the 4th inning from Matt McLain and Stuart Fairchild. The Guardians would also struggle defensively, committing 4 errors in the field.

The Reds would get a run on Syndergaard early, Matt McLain would hit an RBI double to get on the board first, it would then be answered in the 3rd inning with a Jose Ramirez RBI single that brought home Myles Straw. The 4th inning would see Syndergaard's biggest struggles, as he would give up 2 different 2 run home runs, first from Stuart Fairchild and then it would be Matt McLain striking again with the 2nd 2 run home run of the inning. The Guardians would score their 2nd and last run in the 5th inning with a Gabriel Arias solo home run. In the bottom half of that 5th, the Reds would continue their push, loading the bases and driving in a run on a Will Benson groundout to extend the Cincinnati lead to 6-2. The errors in the field would really catch up with Cleveland in the 6th when Spencer Steer would reach on a throwing error from Jose Ramirez, Steer would then end up on 3rd base after another throwing error, this time from Steven Kwan. Joey Votto would hit a single to Kwan, Kwan then committed the error on the throw to the infield.
