TAMPA BAY, FL--- The Tampa Bay Rays walked off the Guardians for the second game in a row, winning 6-5 on a 3 run 9th inning. Cleveland got a great start from Gavin Williams, he went 5 innings, giving up 5 hits while striking out 10 Tampa batters. Williams would only give up one run, it would come from a solo home run off the bat of Luke Raley.
Through the first 5 innings, that home run from Raley and a SAC fly from Brayan Rocchio was the only scoring we would see early on. The Guardians would get another SAC fly in the 6th, this time from Oscar Gonzalez to bring in Andres Gimenez. Myles Straw would then extend the lead to 3-1 by grounding into a force out that allowed Ramon Laureano to score. In the 8th inning, we would see the Guardians jump to a big lead thanks to an offensive explosion in the 8th inning where the Guardians would see Kole Calhoun just miss a big home run that would've blown the game open, he collected his composure and managed an RBI single. Cam Gallagher then got an RBI single of his own to extend the lead to 5-2. The bottom half of the 8th would see the Rays get close with a Luke Raley RBI single. Then came the Rays in the 9th.... Yandy Diaz would start it off making things interesting right way with a double to put himself into scoring position. He would then advance to 3rd on a wild pitch from Cleveland closer Emmanuel Clase and be driven home to tie the game by a Brandon Lowe RBI single, bringing in the hero Randy Arozarena, he would get the clutch RBI single to win the game.
The Guardians will play another day time game in Tampa Sunday afternoon at 1:40 pm, you can hear the game on your flagship, WTAM 1100 AM, 106.9 FM, the free iHeartRadio app, and HERE
