CHICAGO, IL--- A much different result then Thursday night as the Guardians couldn't get anything going on offense Friday night in the Windy City, getting shut out 3-0. There was a couple spot starts tonight with injuries to Cleveland's rotation and the White Sox trading some of their starters away, the matchup was Xzavion Curry vs. Touki Toussaint. Toussaint was stellar, throwing 5 innings of scoreless baseball allowing only 3 hits while striking out 4. Curry only went 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and just one run early on, a solo home run to Luis Robert Jr.

The Guardians had a couple instances where they would threaten, but not execute, especially in 2 key spots, right away in the first inning, then again in the 9th. Cleveland loaded the bases in the first inning, with Steven Kwan drawing a leadoff walk, Andres Gimenez reaching on a fielding error, and Josh Naylor hitting a single, it would be up to Josh Bell to open up the game early, but he would ground into a double play. Then in the 9th, it would be up to Oscar Gonzalez who made his long fan awaited return to the starting lineup Friday night, with Jose Ramirez reaching on a single and Will Brennen getting hit by a pitch, Oscar Gonzalez was swinging for the fences, striking out to end the game. Another instance of the Guardians not taking advantage was seeing Josh Bell again miss an opportunity at the plate, flying out to end an inning where Josh Naylor got himself in scoring position on a double that popped in and out of the glove of Chicago left fielder Andrew Benintendi.

Chicago's additional runs came from Jake Burger's 3rd home run of the series in the 6th inning and an Oscar Colas RBI single in the 8th. The Guardians are back in action on the Southside of Chicago Saturday night at 7:10, you can hear the game on your flagship Newsradio WTAM 1100 AM, who's been serving northeast Ohio for 100 years.
