KANSAS CITY, MO--- The Guardians win in unusual fashion, having a home run derby in Kansas City defeating the Royals 14-1 Wednesday night. Seeing players like Bo Naylor, Josh Naylor and Jose Ramirez have huge impacts on the game. Josh Naylor in his last 37 games is sporting a .371 batting average with 38 RBI. The Guardians wasted no time, with Jose Ramirez getting the Guardians off to a 4-0 lead very early on in the 3rd inning, and the team didn't look back all night.
Josh Bell would soon extend the Guardians lead in the 5th inning with a 2 run moonshot to the fountains in right field making it 6-0. The next inning would see the Guardians have even more of an offensive explosion, hitting for the cycle collectively as a team scoring SEVEN runs in the 6th off of James McArthur who was making his MLB debut. Bo Naylor would get his first MLB home run and RBI with a 2 run home run to start the run parade off, followed by an RBI triple from Amed Rosario (who took advantage of MJ Melendez having trouble with the ball in right field), then an RBI double form his brother Josh Naylor, and then a groundout RBI from Will Brennan groundout that allowed Josh Bell to score, making the score 13-0. McArthur's final line would read 1 inning pitched, with 6 hits and 7 runs given up. The Guardians would then score their 14th and final run in the 7th with Jose Ramirez driving in his 5th run of the night with a 2 out double. In the bottom half of that 7th the Royals would end the shutout with Freddy Fermin hitting an RBI singe to drive in the only Kanas City run of the game.
The Guardians will play the rubber match Thursday afternoon at 2:10, with temperatures potentially reaching 100 degrees in Kanas City, listen live on WTAM 1100 AM, 106.9 FM, the free iHeartRadio app, and HERE
