Guardians Beat Rays 2-1, Prevent Rays From Clinching Playoffs

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Tampa Bay Rays face off against the Guardians in the final game of this three game series as they looked for a win and to clinch a playoff spot. Not a lot of scoring in this defensive battle as Cal Quantrill battled against Jeffery Springs. In the first inning, Tampa Bay would get on the scoreboard first as David Peralta would hit a ground ball to center field to bring in Wander Franco to make the score 1-0. After a few great innings by both by both pitchers, each team would call for their bullpen in the seventh as Cal would allow one run on three hits and Springs would allow 3 hits as well but no runs.

The Guardians would rally in the eighth as Steven Kwan would his an RBI double to bring in Will Brennan from second to tie the game at 1. Later on in the inning, Oscar Gonzalez singles to first base as Kwan would be brought in and take the led 2-1 and that Would be the final, as Trevor Stephan would come in and pick up the save.

The Guardians are set to close out the season in a six game series at home against the Kansas City Royals, with the first game of the series on Friday evening. The first pitch is set for 7:10 pm ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
