SAN DIEGO, CA--- The Guardians took down the Padres in San Diego 3-1 Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Emmanuel Clase would get his 23rd consecutive save in the 9th inning. We would also see a former Indian in Mike Clevenger go 6 innings, giving up 2 hits which were both home runs and striking out 4 Cleveland batters.
The 2 home runs Clevenger gave up were both solo shots, coming from Oscar Gonzalez in the 2nd inning and Andres Gimenez in the 5th, this would be Gimenez's 15th home run on the year. The Padres would cut the lead down to one with a Jake Cronenworth single in the 5th. Jose Ramirez would come in clutch in the 8th driving in his 100th RBI on the year with a single, Steven Kwan was the run to score. On the pitching side we seen Aaron Civale on the mound, he went 4.2 innings giving up 4 hits and striking out 4. Before Clase got his save, we would see Nick Sandlin come in late in the game, he would knock down 4 Padres batters that came to bat striking out 2.
As of today (8/24) the Guardians are still in San Diego finishing up interleague play for the season with a 4:10 first pitch that will be thrown by Cal Quantrill.
