BOSTON, MA--- The Cleveland Guardians and Boston Red Sox split their 4-game series at 2 a piece, Boston taking the finale Thursday night 4-2. Triston McKenzie was on the mound and had a solid start for a while.
Coming into tonight's game, McKenzie's opponent average was .194, tonight, he went 7 innings, giving up 6 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 6. McKenzie didn't give up a run until the 6th inning, Xander Bogarts would hit a 3-run home run off a slider that McKenzie left hanging down the pipe. The Guardians' first run came a bit late as well, via Jose Ramirez's 20th bomb of the year that just nearly cleared the foul pole in right field at Fenway. In the 7th we would see a Bobby Dalbec single, driving in Franchy Cordero. With this start, it was the first time this month that McKenzie gave up more than 1 run in a start. The last Guardians run came from Steven Kwan grounding out into a double play allowing Luke Maile to score in the 8th.
The Guardians and Shane Bieber look to rebound in Tampa tomorrow night at 7:10 from Tropicana Field.
