CLEVELAND, OH--- The Cleveland Guardians lost to the visiting Chicago White Sox 2-1 after a day-night doubleheader yesterday. Aaron Civale was on the mound for the Guardians but only went 1 inning and left the game due to right wrist soreness.
Lucas Giolito started for the White Sox and has had the Indians/Guardians' number his whole career posting a 4-3 record in 11 starts against Cleveland with a 1.93 ERA coming into tonight's game. In today's start, Giolito went 6.1 innings giving up only 5 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 5. The White Sox scored their runs in the 6th inning via a Jose Abreu double and an Andrew Vaughn ground-out RBI that brought home Luis Robert. The Guardians would take advantage of a throwing error from Chicago second baseman Josh Harrison scoring their only run, but that would be it for the night. Amed Rosario was the only Guardian to have a multi-hit game with a 2 hit game tonight.
The Guardians will entertain the Detroit Tigers tomorrow at 7:10 with Triston McKenzie on the mound.
