CLEVELAND, OH -- After dropping game one of the doubleheader by the score of 5-4, the Guardians once again found themselves down heading into the late innings. Down four in the home half of the 8th inning, The Guardians offense awoke and erupted for four runs, tying the game which would eventually force extra innings. Cleveland turned a bang-bang double play in the top of the 10th innings to tip-toe out of the inning with no harm. The rookie phenom Steven Kwan knocked home the game-winning walk-off single to defeat the Padres by the score of 6-5.
Cal Quantrill took the ball for the hometown Guardians and gave Cleveland a solid outing. The right hander finished the game with a line of 3 earned runs on 3 hits, striking out 7 and walking 5. Guardians reliever Nick Sandlin earned his second win of the season after proving an inning of support, giving up 0 hits and 0 runs.
The Cleveland Guardians and Toronto Bluejays will begin a three-game weekend series on Friday evening. The first pitch is set for 6:10 pm ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
