CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cleveland Indians jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, before things went downhill in the 4th inning. Minnesota woke up in the away half of the 4th when he put up 5 runs in the inning, taking a 5-3 lead over the hometown tribe. Cleveland would later rally in the late innings to force extra innings, when the Twins jumped on James Karinachak for 3 runs, winning the game by the final score of 8-5.
With the bases loaded in the 10th inning on a full count, Kyle Garlick jumped on a knee-high fastball, sending a 3-run home run to right center field to help lift the Twins over Cleveland. Minnesota came into extra innings on Sunday having lost all 8 extra inning games previously, but were able to get out of their funk.
James Karinchak was his with his first loss of the season, moving to a record of 2-1 on the season. Twins' reliever Hansel Robles earned his first win of the campaign.
Cleveland will square off against the Detroit Tigers on Monday evening, when they will pit starter Sam Hentges against Spencer Turnbull. First pitch is set for 7:10 pm ET at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan.
