SEATTLE--Strong Indians pitching and timely hitting led to the Indians (10-7) victory against the Seattle Mariners (13-6) 4-2. The Indians have outscored the Mariners 10-6 in the last two games after the Mariners offense started the season on fire. Shane Bieber (2-0) pitched six innings with five strikeouts and has never lost a start on the road.

Timely hitting in the fourth and seventh innings helped secure the win for Shane Bieber. First after Seattle got the early 1-0 lead in the second, Carlos Santana who came into this game batting .400 for the season drove in Jason Kipnis to tie the game. This was followed by Hanley Ramirez's RBI to drive in Santana to take the lead at 2-1.

Santana who returned to Cleveland after spending a year in Philadelphia is off to a very hot start in 2019.

In the seventh, a pair of lefties took care of business including Mike Freeman in his first game coming from the Columbus Clippers (AAA) as he was called up for Eric Stamets.

It was not all bad for the Mariners as their home run leader and former Indian Jay Bruce recorded his eighth homer of the season and extend the team's streak of homers to start the season at 20. The previous record was 14 held by the 2002 Indians.

After a tough weekend in Kansas City where the Indians were swept, the Tribe will look to end their road trip with the sweep of the Mariners Wednesday afternoon. RHP Carlos Carrasco (1-2, 12.60) is looking to rebound from an awful start last Friday in which he gave up six runs in less than an innings' work. Mariners will start RHP Erik Swanson (0-0, 9.00) for the first time this season as they look to end their five game losing streak. Coverage begins at 5:35ET with Tribe Insider with Carmen Angelo followed by first pitch at 6:40ET on Newsradio WTAM 1100AM/106.9FM (Cheap plug alert: I will host Xtra Innings after the game).
