During a University of Oklahoma softball game in Norman, Oklahoma, last week, 11-year-old Ford Burget received support from the crowd after stumbling while singing the national anthem before the Sooners’ matchup against Michigan.
Burget, who has performed the anthem at several events and enjoys singing pop and Christian music, said a glitch during the first verse threw him off and made him lose confidence.
As he struggled to continue, fans in the stands joined in to help him finish the song, while members of the OU softball team also showed support from the field.
Burget later said the moment encouraged him to keep going, and his mother, OU dance team coach Taylor Burget, said it was special to watch him perform at a place meaningful to their family.
