A three-month-old baby was found safe after a car was stolen from a Minneapolis day care parking lot with the infant inside. The incident occurred Tuesday evening when the infant’s mother stepped away from her running SUV for less than one minute, and a person got into the vehicle and drove off with the child still in the backseat.

Police used license plate readers, city cameras, and drones to search for the vehicle while working with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. About an hour later, the car was located a few blocks away with the baby unharmed inside before an AMBER Alert was issued.

Authorities are continuing to search for the suspect, who may face kidnapping charges. The mother says she believes the individual may be a teenager and hopes they can receive help through city programs if located.
