Most of us aren’t so deep into the world of interesting sexual behaviors that we can differentiate between what’s a fetish…and what’s a kink. For the most part, people tend to use the terms interchangeably, but there is a difference.
As “Men’s Health” explains. a “fetish” is something that’s necessary form someone to experience sexual satisfaction.” “Kink” is more of an “umbrella term that encompasses any and all sexual interests, behaviors, and identities that aren’t considered mainstream.”
In the fetish world, “body parts, objects, and activities” are the focus, and if they aren’t tended to, sexual satisfaction won’t happen. It can be anything from handcuffs and spanking, to voyeurism and group action, to feet and asses.
In one example, a woman reported that she couldn’t be satisfied unless “baby paraphernalia” was incorporated in the bedroom action. So, if you say that you occasionally dig wearing diapers, it’s a kink. Take out the word “occasionally” and make it a mandatory thing, and we’re getting into fetish territory.
The kink world is more varied and diverse and can encompass “anything that deviates from conventional sex.” What’s considered “kinky” also varies greatly from person to person. For one guy, a woman who’s exceptionally hairy in various places might be his kink.
For another, it might mean playing around with an array of BDSM gear like paddles, sex swings, blindfolds, or ropes…just not using the same thing every time because they need it to feel fulfilled.
