The Browns rang in the new year with a 24-10 win over the Commanders thanks to a second half explosion from the offense led by Deshaun Watson. After a rough first half in which Watson completed just 3 of 8 passes for a total of 23 yards, he quickly turned things around after halftime. Watson led the Browns to three straight touchdown drives throwing two to Amari Cooper, and one to Donovan Peoples-Jones.
Watson finished the day completing 9 out of 18 pass attempts for 169 yards, and his best QB rating thus far with Cleveland 122.5. After the game he talked about this game being a glimpse of what he hopes the future looks like for this football team.
One week to go as the Browns travel to Pittsburgh next Sunday for the season finale. With the Browns playoff hopes already over, they could find themselves trying to play spoilers depending on the Steelers Ravens result later tonight. Knocking out the Steelers would make it a successful season....wouldn't it?
