A man was seriously injured after an agitated bull bison chased him through a campground and launched him several feet into the air.
The bison targeted the man and his grandson from roughly 100 yards away, well beyond the 25-yard minimum distance required by Yellowstone.
The bison had already charged a group of children before attacking the man and his grandson.
The bison hooked the man with its horn, tossed him in the air, and stood over him while he remained on the ground.
Witnesses, including photographer Mike MacLeod, scared the bison away to prevent further harm to the injured man.
