A former Cleveland police officer is facing charges after allegedly making threatening phone calls to the Cleveland Division of Police Communications Center.

Matthew Piter was arrested on Monday.

He was previously convicted of gross sexual imposition in 2022 and is now facing additional charges for failing to verify his current residence with the county sheriff's office, which is required due to his status as a Tier 1 sex offender.
