Governor Mike DeWine is breaking ranks with his fellow Republicans to speak up in defense of Dr. Amy Acton.
She is DeWine's former Health Director and is running as a Democrat to take over his office when his term expires at the end of this year.
DeWine is taking issue with a campaign ad run by Republican candidate for governor Vivek Ramaswamy that claims Acton was responsible for postponing Ohio's primary election in 2020, during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
DeWine clarified the situation with WCMH-TV yesterday, telling reporters he directed Acton to issue the health order that shut down the polls.
