Ohio State President Ted Carter has resigned after admitting to having an "inappropriate relationship."

Ted Carter Jr. submitted his resignation on Saturday, and it was accepted by the university on Sunday.

In a statement, the school's board of trustees said Carter recently disclosed that he had a relationship with someone seeking public resources to support her personal business and offered to step down.

Carter said he "made a mistake in allowing inappropriate access to Ohio State leadership."
