Some Ohio lawmakers are looking to implement a new alert system for kids who wander away from home. House Bill 359 would establish a "Joshua Alert" in the Buckeye State.
The proposed system is named in honor of an autistic six-year-old who walked away from his home in West Chester in 2024 before being found drowned in a nearby pond hours later.
Advocates for the bill say this initiative will fill a gap when it comes to informing law enforcement and the public about children who go missing on their own.
