New World Record Set For Fastest Trash Can: The "Guinness Book of World Records" is a lot more esoteric these days than the one you read in study hall as a kid. While records used to be more straightforward, like "heaviest twins" or "tallest human being," nowadays you can set your sights on "the farthest distance to blow a pea" (84' 11") or "the most paper straws in a beard" (534). Or, if you're mechanically inclined, you can attempt to break the new world record for "fastest trash can." A British inventor said his tricked-out trash can set a new Guinness World Record, breaking the one he himself set 4 years ago. The old record was 55 mph; it's now 66 mph. For anyone looking to top him, he spells out how he did it: He bought the wheeled trash can for about $25, and then proceeded to make nearly $900 worth of modifications, including a Suzuki GP125 two-stroke engine, magnesium go-kart wheels, a rear axle, a five gear box, a chassis, a steering damper and an extra wheel at the front. Good luck...and wear a helmet!
