More than 700,000 power outages were reported as of Sunday morning due to the winter storm sweeping across much of the U.S., with significant outages in Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Georgia.

Nearly 180 million people across the country will be affected by snow, ice, sleet, and freezing rain.

The Midwest experienced dangerously low windchills, with frostbite setting in within 10 minutes in some areas.

The northeastern U.S. is expected to be covered by more than a foot of snow in many regions
