The suspect in a Wednesday robbery in Elyria has been shot and killed by police.
Officers were dispatched yesterday afternoon to a West River Road North AT&T store with reports of an armed robbery involving a Brinks van.
Police say the suspect fled the scene in an SUV and was later stopped by officers from the North Olmsted Police Department.
After the suspect reportedly tried to take a woman and her children hostage, an Elyria officer fatally shot the 31-year-old suspect.
The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave while the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation looks into the matter.
