The Miami Dolphins are reportedly "working to hire" Green Bay Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan as their general manager, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport on Friday (January 9).

"The Dolphins are working to hire Jon-Eric Sullivan as their general manager, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Sullivan, who was the Packers’ VP of Player Personnel, is highly respected within the league. Now, he’ll play a key role in Miami’s search for a new head coach," Rapoport wrote on his X account. "Jon-Eric Sullivan is highly regarded within the league. He had an in-person second interview for the job Thursday and now will chart the course for rebuilding Miami's roster."

Sullivan has been with the Packers organization throughout his entire operations career, initially joining the franchise as a training camp intern in 2003 before working as a football operations department employee from 2004 to 2007; a Central Plains region scout from 2008 to 2011; a Southeast region scout from 2012 to 2015; director of college scouting from 2016 to 2017; co-director of player personnel from 2018 to 2021 and vice president of player personnel since 2022. The Dolphins fired former general manager Chris Grier on October 31, hours after a blowout home Thursday Night Football loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Sullivan will lead Miami's head coaching search after the franchise announced the firing of Mike McDaniel on Thursday (January 8).
