CORBIN BERNSEN BIO
Corbin Bernsen comes from an entertainment family. His mother, Jeanne Cooper was on the long running soap THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS for 35 years and father was an agent turned producer who shepherded one of first "blaxpoitation" films, THREE THE HARD WAY.
Corbin is a graduate of UCLA where he earned a bachelor's degree in Theater and a Masters degree in Playwriting. He was first catapulted to stardom during the 1980s by the hit NBC TV series, L.A. LAW for 8 seasons where he was nominated for both Emmy and Golden Globe awards for his performance as Arnie Becker on the show that virtually created the ensemble drama as we now know it today. More recently he starred as Henry Spencer on USA Network's hit original series PSYCH that also ran for 8 seasons. During his illustrious career he has hosted Saturday Night Live, and guest starred on SEINFELD and STAR TREK (to name just a few of his many notable television appearances).
In the feature film arena, he starred as Indians' third baseman-turned-owner Roger Dorn in the extremely popular MAJOR LEAGUE series of films with Tom Berringer and Charlie Sheen. That was followed by other critically acclaimed roles including DISORGANIZED CRIME, Wolfgang Peterson's SHATTERED, THE GREAT WHITE HYPE, TALES FROM THE HOOD, and THE BIG YEAR with Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson. He also appeared with Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer in Shane Black's KISS KISS BANG BANG. Upcoming he costars in the feature film TOW staring Rose Byrne that premieres at Tribecca summer of 2025.
In 2006 Corbin formed his own production company, Team Cherokee Productions to exert more creative control over his projects and begin exploring material both as writer, director and producer. Today that company has taken root as Home Theater Films, an early player in the Faith and Family film genre. The company has explored a wide variety of themes beginning with the film RUST which was distributed by Sony Pictures. With many other films under their belt, including 25 HILL, BEYOND THE HEAVENS, CHRISTIN MINGLE (starring Lacey Chabert), INLAWFULY YOURS, THREE DAY TEST, LIFE WITH DOG, and the family comedy MARY FOR MAYOR Home Theater Films has firmly carved a niche and name in this lucrative genre.
In 2017, Corbin delivered a powerhouse performance as "Vulcan," the roman God of Fire, to great acclaim on the Starz network's hit AMERICAN GODS based on the best-selling novel by Neil Gaiman.
More recently Corbin has been thrilled to reprise his role as Henry Spencer on Peacocks three PSYCH television movies. He's also appeared on Sundance TV's dark comedy series, HAP & LEONARD as the foul-mouthed and morally ambiguous head of police, Chief Cantuck. In 2019, Corbin joined the second season of the comic book vigilante action drama THE PUNISHER for Netflix playing Anderson Schultz. That was followed with recurring roles on some of network and cable television's hottest series such as, Showtime's BILLIONS, CITY ON A HILL, CBS's MAGNUM PI and Fox's THE RESIDENT playing the role of Kyle Nevin for 5 seasons. His recent credits include Showtime's genre-bending scripted comedy THE CURSE created by Benny Safdie and Nathan Fielder starring Emma Stone, HBO's WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS, Hulu's CLIPPED, and Apple TV+'s YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS. He will also be seen this year in JJ Abrams DUSTER on Max.
Most recently Corbin wrote, produced and stars in his passion project, the generational dark comedy WOODSTOCKERS, an intended television series that explores the Woodstock generation, it's successes and failures that resonate strong in today's chaotic world.
Corbin lives in the Hudson Valley, New York with his wife of 37 years, actress Amanda Pays. They have four sons each who have begun their own journeys in the world of film and television.
