Officials say it could take weeks for federal food assistance to reach local families.

Nearly one-point-four million Ohioans rely on SNAP benefits each month, and those benefits have been impacted by the ongoing government shutdown.

A recent court order has directed the Trump administration to pay at least partial SNAP benefits, despite the administration previously stating they did not have the funds to do so.

Federal officials say they will pay half of the benefits due to recipients in November, though it will take time for those benefits to reach qualified individuals.
