With federal SNAP benefits set to expire this weekend, food banks across Northeast Ohio are preparing for a surge in need.

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank and partner agencies are expanding operations in counties including Ashland, Lorain, and Medina.

Local centers like May Dugan and Blessed Trinity are adding food distributions to help families at risk of losing assistance.

Officials warn that hundreds of thousands could be impacted once benefits end this Saturday.
