A fisherman died after falling into Lake Erie Tuesday evening near Edgewater Park.
Cleveland firefighters say the man was seen struggling in waves up to six feet high before disappearing from view.
Crews arrived around 8:15 p.m. but determined the victim had died before they could reach him.
Officials say rough conditions made recovery efforts too dangerous to continue Tuesday night.
The fire department plans to resume recovery operations on Wednesday morning.
