Rite Aid Closes Its Final Stores: Rite Aid is no more. The pharmacy has officially closed all of its stores, bringing an end to more than 60 years in business. The pharmacy chain confirmed the closures in a statement on its website, saying, "All Rite Aid stores have now closed. We thank our loyal customers for their many years of support." Rite Aid has struggled financially in recent years. The company filed for bankruptcy protection in May, just eight months after emerging from a previous Chapter 11 filing in September 2024. The company at that time operated over 12-hundred stores across 15 states from California to Vermont, and had planned to keep stores open and sell off assets in an effort to maintain prescription services for customers.
