The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that federal immigration agencies can continue massive sweeps in Southern California despite a lower court's ruling that the operations violated due process for illegal aliens.
Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli argued that the restraining order was overly broad and aimed to hinder the apprehension and removal of illegal immigrants in Los Angeles, emphasizing that federal law enforcement is non-negotiable.
Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino criticized the temporary restraining order as poorly written and stated that Border Patrol would continue operations in Los Angeles despite the court order.
Border Patrol conducted lawful operations in the Los Angeles area despite the restraining order issued by Judge Frimpong.
Bovino is expected to lead a task force in Chicago for an enhanced crackdown on illegal aliens, using similar tactics and planning as those used in Southern California.
