President Donald Trump announced his intention to lead a movement to end mail-in voting and sign an executive order to bring honesty to future elections, acknowledging that Democrats will strongly oppose his efforts.
Trump, despite previously voting by mail himself, claimed that mail-in ballots are inaccurate, expensive, and controversial, advocating for the use of watermark paper instead of voting machines.
Trump alleged that other countries abandoned mail-in voting due to massive voter fraud and urged states to follow his lead for the country's benefit.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer criticized Trump's call to ban mail-in voting, stating that it is not based on fact or reality and is a way for Trump to silence Americans from using their voice in the democratic process.
Schumer emphasized that Senate Democrats will ensure that any measure making it harder for Americans to vote will be blocked and will continue to protect democracy.
