The Supreme Court lifted a lower court order that prevented the Trump administration from deporting migrants to countries that are not their places of origin without giving them the chance to raise fears of torture, persecution, or death.

Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson dissented from the court's decision regarding third country removals.

The Trump administration has entered into arrangements with various countries to accept migrants who are not their citizens, including detaining Venezuelan migrants in El Salvador.

A group of migrants filed a lawsuit arguing they are entitled to notice and an opportunity to contest their removals based on fears of persecution, torture, and death.

The Trump administration sought to deport migrants to third countries without proper notice, leading to a legal battle with a federal judge who blocked the swift deportations.
