At least 11 people have died and more than 30 have been injured in a stampede at a cricket stadium in Bengaluru city.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated, "At a time of celebration, this unfortunate event should not have happened. We are saddened by this."
The crowd tried to break down one of the stadium's gates to join the celebrations, according to the chief minister of Karnataka state.
D.K. Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister, described the crowd as "very uncontrollable."
The Board of Control for Cricket in India called the incident "unfortunate" and acknowledged the negative side of popularity, with BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stating, "People are crazy for their cricketers. The organizers should have planned it better.
