President Trump is set to sign an executive order to revitalize coal-fired power plants and the American coal industry.
The order will reclassify coal as a mineral and directs agencies to identify coal deposits on federally-controlled lands.
It will also end a moratorium on federal coal lease sales and mobilize the government to find foreign buyers for American coal, as well as and advance coal-related technologies.
The increase in U.S. power demand driven by the anticipated AI boom is a major factor behind the executive order
