The employees of an Austin pizza restaurant turned the tables on an armed robber by fighting him off until police arrived.

The incident happened Monday evening at Marco’s Pizza, where the armed robber handed a worker a note that read, “Don’t say sh**. Empty the drawer,” police say. He then showed the employee a gun he had tucked in his waistband. Instead of complying, the worker grabbed the gunman – later identified as 19-year-old Richard Curtis – and put him in a chokehold while another employee called 911, according to the Austin Police Department.

Curtis broke free and began fighting the employee, prompting the manager to retrieve a gun from his office and try shooting him, police say. However, when the gun didn’t fire, he grabbed a knife and used it to threaten Curtis, who stopped fighting, per police. He was taken into custody without incident, his arrest report reveals.
