(Bay Village) - It's been 35 years since nine-year-old Amy Mihaljevic went missing from a shopping plaza in Bay Village, her body to turn up a few months later in a field in Wayne County. Her disappearance and murder remain unsolved to this day, but Bay Village Police still consider this an open case, even attempting to discover new DNA that could lead to her killer.
On Saturday, October 26, there will be a run and walk honoring Amy. Entry fees will go to the Amy Fund, which is a line item in the Bay Village Police budget to help cover costs of the ongoing investigation. The cost of DNA testing runs into the thousands each year. This fund allows Bay Village Police to immediately submit samples for testing without waiting for grant money.
