Starting Friday, Georgia parents will no longer be able to get time to themselves by dropping off their kids at Six Flags for the day.
That’s when Six Flags Over Georgia’s new chaperone policy goes into effect, officials revealed on Monday. In accordance with the policy’s guidelines, guests 15 years old or younger will not be admitted unless they’re accompanied by someone who’s 21 or older. The chaperone will be required to present a government-issued photo ID, stay with the underage guests for the duration of the visit, and be accessible by phone while they’re there, according to Six Flags officials.
The change comes four months after an officer-involved shooting occurred at the park. “We believe these changes will help ensure that Six Flags Over Georgia continues to have a positive atmosphere where generations of families and friends can gather for a day of safe fun and good food,” reads a statement released by Six Flags officials. “Millions of guests have counted on us for exactly that, and we will continue to deliver on that promise for generations to come.”
