Shannen Doherty, star of "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed," passed away at 53 after a long battle with cancer
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, she went into remission in 2017, but the cancer returned in 2019 as stage 4 metastatic cancer

After a prolonged battle with cancer, "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed" star Shannen Doherty passed away on Saturday at the age of 53 surrounded by her loved ones. First diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, she went into remission in 2017 only to have the cancer return in 2019 as stage 4 metastatic cancer.
Last summer, Doherty revealed that her cancer had spread to her brain and would require surgery. Throughout her illness, the actress remained committed to raising awareness and funds for cancer research, determined to show that people with terminal cancer still have much to contribute.
Despite her health struggles, Doherty continued working and had a strong desire to continue living to the fullest. She believed it was important to stay active and maintain a positive outlook on life. Her strength and determination were recognized by her colleagues, including Brian Austin Green, who praised her as an inspiration. Numerous stars responded to Doherty’s death expressing their sadness and paying tribute to the late star.
