A Florida worker is dead after he was involved in what authorities are calling a “freak drainpipe accident.”
The deadly incident happened at about 11 a.m. Monday when the unidentified man was performing routine maintenance inside an underground drainage pipe when he was "suddenly pushed out of the pipe from below ground, through the opened roadway grate, and came to rest on the roadway," according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
As of mid-afternoon on Monday, police had not yet released further information.
