Baseball is mourning the loss of a legend after Willie Mays died Tuesday afternoon at the age of 93. The "Say Hey Kid" played 20-plus years, most of them with the San Francisco Giants, and made 24 All-Star teams, won two National League MVP awards and 12 Gold Gloves. Mays ranks sixth all-time in home runs, seventh in runs scored, 12th in RBI and 13th in hits. He began his professional career as a 17-year-old with the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro League. The Giants purchased his contract in 1950, and at age 20 he became the 10th Black player in major league history. In 1979, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
