What To Do With Those Eclipse Glasses?

(Cleveland) - Since there won't be another total eclipse of the sun in North America for about 20 years, you have little use for those solar eclipse glasses you used to watch Monday's eclipse. The glasses can't be put into regular recycling, but there are ways they can be re-used.

A number of locations around Greater Cleveland are collecting the glasses for a group called Astronomers Without Borders. They will be checked out for quality, then distributed to sites around the world that will have future eclipses. The entire list, compiled by the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District, is at this link. It includes library branches and Cleveland Metroparks locations.

Some businesses are also collecting eclipse glasses to send to Astronomers Without Borders. They include Warby Parker optical, with locations at Crocker Park and Pinecrest, and Brewnuts on Detroit Avenue at West 65th Street.
