Cleveland Mom Pleads Guilty in Daughters Death

(Cleveland) Krystel Candelario entered guilty pleas to charges of aggravated murder and endangering children Thursday. The 32-year-old left her 16-month-old daughter Jailyn home alone in a play pen for 10 days in June of 2023 while she went on vacation to Detroit and Puerto Rico. Upon her return from vacation, Candelario found Jailyn unresponsive and called police. The Cleveland Police Homicide Unit found the child to be extremely dehydrated in the play pen that was soiled with urine and feces. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O'Malley said, “this case is one of those truly unimaginable cases that will stick with me for many years to come.” Candelario will be sentenced on March 18th at 9 a.m.
