(Cleveland) Former Cleveland Police officer Kevin Stanard was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison for an attack and strangulation of a 48-year-old woman with whom he'd had an affair. Thanks to a plea deal with prosecutors, the 61-year-old pleaded guilty to attempted felonious assault, strangulation, and having a gun inside a bar. The incident happened in May of 2023, but the victim said that Stanard had beaten her several times over the course of their lengthy relationship. At the time of the indictment the Cleveland Division of Police suspended the 27-year veteran of the force without pay. He ultimately resigned in November of last year.
