(Akron) Akron based Summa Health has signed a non-binding letter of intent to be acquired by General Catalyst's Health Assurance Transformation Corporation. The deal, likely to be completed this summer, would transform Summa from a non-profit to a for-profit company. The price tag has not been revealed, but the Summa name will stay along with its leadership team and its operations that include Akron City Hospital, and physicians and clinics throughout the region that currently stretches northward into Hudson and also into Medina and Portage counties. With more than 8,000 employees, Summa Health is Summit County's largest employer.
