CLEVELAND, OH--- The Cavs got a big win before a tough 4 game trip, defeating the visiting Orlando Magic 121-111 in a game where the never trailed, the Magic would try and bring the lead down, but would not be able to take the lead.
Donovan Mitchell started the game red hot, as well as Max Strus. "Spida" Mitchell would at one point in the first quarter go on a personal 10-0 run, while Strus and the Cavs were red hot from 3 point range, making 7 of 9 attempted 3 pointers in the first quarter. Mitchell would finish the game with 35 points, 20 of those coming in the first quarter, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds. Mitchell has now scored 20+ points in 15 of his 16 games played this season. Max Strus was on fire from 3 point range in the first half, and it continued throughout the game, making 50% of his 3 pointers attempted, finishing with 17 points and 5 rebounds. On the backs of Mitchell, Strus and Garland even, the Cavs would take a 17 point lead into the 2nd quarter. Darius Garland would finish the game with 26 points, 9 assists and a perfect 100% FT percentage.
As I mentioned earlier, the Cavs did not trail all game, taking a lead into halftime, so far this season when the Cavs have lead at halftime, they are 8-2. The Magic would not let the Cavs celebrate too early though, cutting a 20+ point lead at one point down to as much as 8 in both the 3rd quarter and late in the 4th. This was thanks to a monster game from Orlando power forward Paolo Banchero who scored a whopping 42 points while pulling in 6 rebounds.
