(Solon) - Nestle has told the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services that it will be laying off 77 workers.
The layoffs will be done gradually, starting December 31st, and continuing until August. Nestle says in a statement that the layoffs will be permanent. The company says it's trying to stay ahead of changing market and consumer trends. No other details were given.
Nestle has about 3,000 employees in Solon, and the company deals locally with mainly frozen and chilled foods. The plant primarily turns out Stouffer's frozen foods. Stouffer's was founded in Cleveland and was purchased by Nestle in 1973.
