(Cleveland) The Cleveland Guardians have announced the hiring of Stephen Vogt to be the team's next manager. The 39-year-old Vogt comes from Seattle where he was the team's Bullpen and Quality Control Coach last season. His playing career ended just one year earlier. Vogt, who was a catcher, played for six teams during a ten-year Major-League career, and was selected to the All-Star game in 2015 and 2016 as a member of the Oakland A's. He'll be officially introduced by the Guardians this Friday. Vogt becomes the 45th manager in the franchise's history. The search for a new skipper began when Terry Francona made it clear that the 2023 season would be his last.
