Ambassador and SEEDS Project
- The Ambassadors and SEEDS teams undertook another large public realm improvement project this week! Numerous trees along Walnut Ave. in Perk Park had grown out of control, impairing visualization along the street and throughout the park. Our ambassadors took on this 2-day project to prune and cut back the greenery to improve both the perception and reality of safety in the very frequented green space.
- Projects like this are great examples of proactive environmental maintenance that can be taken to reduce crime and increase authorities' ability to survey large areas.
- The reduction of obstructions like trees increases officers’ field of vision and the scope of security camera coverage in the area, creating a more welcoming and secure public space for all to enjoy.

Mayor’s Release
- The Mayor’s announced this weekend that the Raising Investment in Safety for Everyone (RISE) Initiative, aimed to reduce crime through strategic partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies is already seeing results.
- In just two weeks the RISE initiative has resulted in over 160 felony arrests, more than 300 illegal gun seizures-a number of which have been connected to violent criminal activity-and the removal of several kilograms of dangerous drugs from our community.
- The RISE initiative also includes a recruitment plan for police as the city struggles with a shortage of officers.
- To help continue these efforts, Governor DeWine visited the Third District on Tuesday to speak about the state’s push to reduce violence, making it his second trip to Cleveland in recent weeks to address these issues.
